Commonly Asked Questions

Welcome to the A to Z Building Inspection Service Help Center. I’ve pulled together some of the most frequently asked questions from my clients and compiled them here. If you still need answers, get in touch and I’ll do my best to help out.

Why Should I Get A Home / Commercial Building Inspection?

A thorough inspection will determine the home/building overall condition and identify potentially costly issues. As your inspectors, our goal is to use our professional knowledge and experience to answer any questions and educate the buyers on all structural, mechanical, and electrical deficiencies in the home or property. Ultimately, we want peace of mind for the buyer so they can confidently invest in their new venture.

What Is Inspected During A Home / Commercial Building Inspection?

A full structural/mechanical inspections of the home or property and reports on all major components of the property including: Roof, exterior, structure, appliances, insulation, electrical service entrance, electrical branch circuits, plumbing, heating and cooling, fireplaces, foundations, and grading and drainage. We also inspect optional systems including pools and spas and sprinkler systems.

How Long Does A Home / Commercial Building Inspection Take?

Times vary depending on the size and age of the property. Most of the inspections we do take between 3 to 4 hours to fully complete. We do our best to work efficiently, however, we do not compromise the quality of our inspection and some may take longer.

When Will I Receive My Inspection Report?

By law, unless otherwise agreed upon, the inspection report is required to be produced three days from completion of the inspection. We understand how critical a inspection is to the buying process and deliver a detailed and meaningful report within 1 to 2 days.

Should I Attend A Home / Commercial Building Inspection?

Yes, and if possible, yes. Your attendance is your best opportunity to ask questions and allows us to explain our findings in person at the property. Remember that as inspectors we work objectively for you, the buyer. Our goal is to communicate our findings to you as thoroughly as possible, so you can make an informed decision.

What Is An Infrared Scan?

An infrared scan is a non-invasive technology used to identify insulation, moisture and electrical issues
that are not able to be seen with the naked eye. Infrared cameras have detectors that pickup invisible
light wavelengths of 700-1000 nm and produce images that show temperature differences. With
experience and a trained eye, we use these images to identify issues before they would be identified by a
simple visual inspection. For us at A to Z Inspection Services this is our passion.

Should I Get An Infrared Scan?

Infrared scans often find issues before they become obvious or catastrophic. Based on experience we
strongly recommend including an infrared scan along with your home inspection. We have saved
thousands of dollars for our clients by using infrared camera images to identify problems that were not
yet visible to the naked eye. An infrared scan is only as effective as the individual carrying it out. If
you decide to get an infrared scan, make sure your inspector is a certified and experienced
thermographer.

Should I Get A Commercial Inspection For A Building I Want To Lease?

Leasing commercial space can be costly for a small business. Before you lock your company into a legal agreement, it’s a good idea to schedule a commercial property inspection to protect your business and avoid expensive repairs. We can rule out potential problems and ensure building you choose to lease is a worthwhile property investment.

Buying a home or commercial building is expensive, probably the largest investment of your life! The cost of an inspection service is small in relative to the value of the investment in your property.
